How It Works

# A Proven Test That Mirrors ***Real Listening***

Patients’ top complaint to hearing care providers is trouble hearing in noise. Now you can easily, accurately test their hearing in real listening scenarios. Instead of tones in a quiet room, patients listen to short sentences against background noise, for results that drive proper actions.

## Listen and Repeat

The patient repeats five-word sentences (a name, verb, number, adjective, and object) heard against background noise.

<div style="margin-bottom:24px;"> <span style="display:inline-flex; align-items:center; justify-content:center; width:30px; height:30px; border-radius:50%; background-color:#89C3D0; color:#FFFFFF; font-family:inherit; font-weight:600; font-size:16px; line-height:1;">2</span> </div>

## Adapt to Find the Proper Level

Background noise stays fixed while the speech level adapts to the target intelligibility, calculating the SNR each patient needs.

<div style="margin-bottom:24px;"> <span style="display:inline-flex; align-items:center; justify-content:center; width:30px; height:30px; border-radius:50%; background-color:#89C3D0; color:#FFFFFF; font-family:inherit; font-weight:600; font-size:16px; line-height:1;">3</span> </div>

## Get Repeatable Results

The fixed sentence structure lets patients take the test quickly, and provides comparable results from one visit to the next.

<div style="margin-bottom:24px;"> <span style="display:inline-flex; align-items:center; justify-content:center; width:30px; height:30px; border-radius:50%; background-color:#89C3D0; color:#FFFFFF; font-family:inherit; font-weight:600; font-size:16px; line-height:1;">4</span> </div>

## Prove the Benefit

Test unaided, then aided, and even compare two hearing aids, to demonstrate measurable benefit in noise.

Why It Matters

Questions

## **What Clinicians Ask Us**

## Which Languages Are Available?

The initial version in Measure includes 15 languages, enabling standardized international testing. Importantly, a hearing care professional does not have to speak or understand the patient’s native language to administer and score the test. They record which words the patient hears correctly, and the software automatically adapts the SNR of the next sentence accordingly. Dutch and Russian are not currently included; language expansion is led by Hörzentrum Oldenburg.

## Is This the Same Test German Audiologists Know?

Yes. It is the Oldenburger Satztest (OLSA), established in Germany, and now integrated into Measure’s modern, connected workflow. It provides a quick, reliable threshold measurement suitable for any degree of hearing loss. With unlimited repeated measurements, short sentences, and numerous language options, it’s the ideal solution for audiology enterprises everywhere.

## Can I Compare Two Hearing Aids Using This Test?

Yes. Benchmark the patient unaided, then test aided with each device to demonstrate which option delivers more benefit in noise.

## How is This Different than the OLSA I Already Run on Another System?

The Oldenburger Satztest (OLSA) is stronger than other speech-in-noise tests because its strictly structured five-word matrix prevents patients from guessing words using context. Implementing the test in Measure’s workflow also streamlines, automates, and simplifies the process, compared with the standalone Oldenburg app. Talk to us about the license-transfer path for current OLSA users on older audiometers.
