**Frequently Asked Questions**

## What audiometric transducers does Auditdata Measure offer?

Auditdata Measure offers five certified audiometric transducers: the BC1 bone conductor (250–4,000 Hz), the CA1 circum-aural headphone (125–8,000 Hz), the CA1 HF high-frequency headphone (125–16,000 Hz), the IN1 insert earphone (125–8,000 Hz), and the SA1 supra-aural headphone (125–8,000 Hz). All five are Class 2a Medical Devices meeting IEC 60645-1:2017 and ANSI S3.6:2018.

## Which audiometric transducer is used for which type of hearing test?

Bone conductors (BC1) are used for bone conduction pure-tone testing to differentiate sensorineural from conductive hearing loss. Supra-aural headphones (SA1) are the most widely used for standard air conduction audiometry. Circum-aural headphones (CA1) provide higher passive ambient noise attenuation. Insert earphones (IN1) offer greater inter-aural attenuation and are preferred for paediatric testing. High-frequency headphones (CA1 HF) are required for extended high-frequency audiometry at 9,000–16,000 Hz.

## Are the Auditdata transducers independently validated?

Yes. The CA1 and SA1 headphones were validated by Dr. Marion Bug at PTB Berlin, Germany's national metrology institute, with ETSPLs confirmed for the CA1/CA1 HF (DN02777) and SA1 (DN02778). All five transducers were independently evaluated by Audiometrix, Austrian-based audiology experts, under simulated real-clinic conditions using professional audiometric calibration procedures.

## How does Auditdata handle audiometric transducer calibration?

Auditdata's [Calibration SWAP](https://www.auditdata.com/audiology-solutions/measure/services/calibration-service/ "Calibration Service") service eliminates clinic downtime during annual calibration. Calibration data is stored in the transducer plug, the audiometer reads it automatically on connection. Pre-calibrated replacement transducers are shipped before existing ones expire; the clinic plugs in the new transducers and returns the expired ones in the same packaging. No manual recalibration is required.
