Copenhagen, Denmark — October 7, 2026 — Auditdata, the leading audiology software, hardware, and services company, today announced that the Oldenburg Matrix Sentence Test, developed by Hörzentrum Oldenburg, is available in Auditdata Measure™ starting with release 6.6.0. This test brings a gold-standard speech-in-noise assessment into Measure™, so clinicians can measure the problem, prove the benefit of hearing aids, and guide better decisions with confidence.
This best-in-class measurement tool provides objective, indisputable data about each patient’s ability to hear when in background noise. Additionally, it allows patients to see how much hearing aids help and determine which device works better for their specific needs. It includes only one protocol, run the same way across every room and location, providing comparable results from year to year.
Also known as the Oldenburg Satztest test (OLSA), this proven, validated methodology provides a quick, reliable threshold measurement that’s suitable for any degree of hearing loss. With unlimited repeated measurements, short sentences, and numerous language options, it’s the ideal solution for audiology enterprises everywhere.
“The Oldenburg Matrix Sentence Test is better than other speech-in-noise tests because it has a strictly structured five-word matrix that prevents patients from guessing words using context. This test mirrors real listening, using five-word sentences that make testing fast, easy, and accurate. This is an effective way for audiologists to compare two hearing aids to determine which option delivers more benefit in noise to meet each patient’s specific needs.”
“Fully integrating the test in the Measure™ workflow streamlines, automates, and simplifies the process, which is preferable to the standalone Oldenburg app,” Dixon added. “The test has been validated and peer-reviewed by Hörzentrum Oldenburg, a well-respected organization that’s advancing audiological testing and product development.”
"Patients’ top complaint to their hearing care providers is that they cannot hear well in noise. It can be difficult – and frustrating – for people with hearing loss to hold conversations in crowded restaurants, at loud parties, and in professional situations with multiple people speaking at once,” said Christoffer Spangenberg, CEO of Auditdata.
The initial version in Measure™ includes 15 languages, enabling standardized international testing. Importantly, hearing care professionals do not have to speak or understand the patient’s native language to administer and score the test. They record which words the patient hears correctly, and the software automatically adapts the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of the next sentence accordingly.
“Speech-in-noise testing belongs in every clinic. Seeing the Matrix Sentence Test reach audiologists worldwide through Measure™ is exactly the impact our research was made for,” explained Dr. Dirk Oetting, Project Manager at Hörzentrum Oldenburg.
The Oldenburg Matrix Sentence Test joins the NAL-NL3 fitting system in Auditdata Measure™. Together, these tools let clinicians measure how well patients hear in noise, fit to an independent standard, then test again, demonstrating the improved performance to each patient. This powerful combination allows clinicians to provide objective proof of a patient’s hearing difficulty and show the clear benefits of hearing aids (while testing in their own language and regardless of hearing aid manufacturer.
More than 430 million people have hearing impairment, yet only 20% of these individuals wear hearing aids. Auditdata aims to close this gap by working closely together with hearing care professionals worldwide to improve the care experience for everyone facing hearing impairment, from early detection to aftercare.
