Auditdata Measure - Types of hearing tests

What is the Weber method?

This test uses tuning forks to establish whether a hearing loss is present at the frequency of the tuning fork which is being used. It is not a substitute for performing additional audiological assessments.

Why use Weber?

Tuning forks are used as a simple and brief test that can be used to provide early diagnostic information where audiometry is unable to be performed.

How to perform Weber?

A tuning fork which has specifically been designed for use with audiometric examination should be used. This should be held by the stem and the side of the tuning fork struck approximately two-thirds of the way along the tine. The footplate should then be placed on the midline of the client's forehead.
